Meet Courtney Kehrmann

My name is Courtney and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and Registered Art Therapist (ATR). I graduated from Mount Mary University with a Masters in Art Therapy with a Concentration in Counseling. I am passionate about using the restorative power of art, creativity, and self-expression to assist clients of all ages in processing their thoughts and emotions in order to heal from various life stressors and challenges.

Have you ever struggled to find the right words to describe how you are feeling? This is where art and the creative process can come into play to help us identify our thoughts and emotions through artistic means. As a Registered Art Therapist and Professional Counselor, I utilize a holistic, person-centered approach to therapy, meaning I tailor each session to meet the specific goals of my clients. Through the use of various art modalities in combination with traditional counseling techniques, I help individuals tap into their inner creativity and unlock their potential for growth and self-discovery through both verbal and non-verbal means.

Contrary to common misconceptions, my work as an art therapist extends beyond working solely with children. I have experience working with clients of all ages, and adapt my approach to meet the unique needs of each individual I work with. I have worked with children, adolescents, adults, and the elderly in a variety of clinical settings. This experience allowed me to develop a diverse background in various therapeutic modalities. I have additional experience working with clients struggling with anxiety, depression, LGBTQ+ issues, cancer diagnoses, grief and loss, developmental disorders, as well as Alzheimer’s Disease and other dementias.

I am committed to creating a safe and supportive space where individuals can explore their inner world, develop new coping skills, and cultivate self-awareness through the transformative power of art. Whether you are seeking support in managing anxiety, depression, processing trauma, or simply looking to explore your creativity, I can assist in your journey towards healing and self-discovery.

On a more personal note…

As a new mom, I don’t have as much spare time as I used to, but when I do I love to go on walks with my new baby daughter, make art, crochet, play with my rambunctious dogs, Brandy and Scout, explore forest preserves, attend concerts, play board games, travel with my husband, and visit with family and friends.
