Meet Heather Kollmer
Sometimes the hardest thing to do is reach out and make that phone call for help. When a part of you realizes the issues or struggles are beginning to feel too overwhelming to manage alone. Although it may not feel like it at the time this is your inner strength that has always been there wanting the best for you….
As a counselor creating a safe and trusting environment is always the first step in beginning to explore the questions, feelings or experiences that have brought you in to counseling. Maybe you feel stuck in certain areas of your life and wish to move forward but are unsure of how to do that. Or the needs of others have been placed before your own. Perhaps at times you might even feel unworthy of help. You matter and whatever you are experiencing we will work together at your comfort level. Always keeping the focus on your unique strengths and what you wish to achieve, while never forgetting that you are the expert on your life.
During our work together my goal is to provide a sense of calm, support and acceptance.
I am a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor and graduated with a counseling degree from Argosy University. I have had the privilege of working with clients for 18 years in a community mental health setting. I have also had the opportunity to work as a crisis counselor case manager in an emergency room supporting clients with their mental health. My experience has also involved working for an Employee Assistance Program providing brief counseling and support while connecting employees to outpatient counseling and resources.
On a personal note…. I find being around animals and in nature to be really calming and stress relieving. I love to spend time outdoors walking, hiking and skiing.
I also feel a deep connection to music and studied classical voice for a number of years. For fun I currently sing with a honky- tonk band.
